Assessment Procedures

Singapore International School students sit formal examinations at the end of Semester 1 and Semester 2 each year.

The examinations are set for the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science according to the exam format and weighting used in Singapore schools.

The exams are written by a team of writers drawn from across all SIS campuses and after vetting, are distributed to all SIS campuses for administering according to strict examination procedures.

Assessment of the non-core subjects is conducted through teacher generated tasks such as assignments, projects and tests.

Reporting

Written Progress Reports are issued for each student at the end of Semester 1 and Semester 2. A brief weekly report is also provided in the Student Handbook to keep parents informed of student progress.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are held at the end of each semester to discuss academic progress and parents are also free to arrange an interview with their child’s teacher at any time throughout the year.

iPSLE

iPSLE

Singapore Examination and Assessment Board (SEAB) has appointed KinderWorld as a Designated Overseas Agent with authority to conduct the International Primary School Examination (iPSLE).

The iPSLE is an important examination that is conducted at the end of Year 6 and provides Singapore International School students with an international benchmark of academic performance.

IGCSE

IGCSE

At the end of the first two years of their High School Programme, students will sit the Cambridge examination for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).

The IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year old students. It develops successful students, prepares them for their next step in education and equips them with skills for immediate employment.

The IGCSE is provided by the University of Cambridge International Examination Centre and is recognized by universities and employers worldwide as a mark of quality signifying clear evidence of a student’s ability.

The IGCSE examinations occur over a two to three week period in May/June each year. Examination results are released in August and official IGCSE Certificates are issued approximately 8 weeks after the release of the results.

A Levels

A Levels

The completion of Cambridge A Levels requires a further two years study after IGCSE. Students are able to sit AS Level examinations after one year and the AS Level is a qualification in its own right.

Cambridge AS and A Levels are an internationally benchmarked qualifications providing excellent preparation for university. They are widely accepted by universities around the world.

The AS and A Level examinations occur over two to three week period in May/June each year. Results are released by Cambridge in August each year and official certificates are issued approximately 8 weeks after the release of results.
